How long can I drive in the Netherlands on my foreign licence?
It depends on where your licence was issued. EU/EEA licences are generally valid for many years in the Netherlands, depending on their validity period. Licences from outside the EU/EEA are usually only valid for the first 185 days after you register as a resident.
Can I exchange my licence without taking a test?
In some cases yes — the Netherlands has exchange agreements with a number of countries. If your country isn't on that list, you'll need to pass the Dutch theory and practical exam. We can help you check which applies to you.
I already have years of driving experience — do I still need lessons?
Most experienced expats don't need a full beginner course. We assess your level first and then focus only on Dutch-specific procedures, so you typically need far fewer lessons than someone starting from scratch.
What exactly does the Dutch CBR practical exam test?
The Dutch practical exam lasts about 55 minutes and focuses heavily on local procedures — extensive mirror checks, checking your blind spot, and priority rules around cyclists and roundabouts. We train you specifically on these.
Can I just book a refresher course instead of a full package?
